This is sad. The McCain campaign is compensating supporters with various prizes when they cut-and-paste the campaign talking points into blog comments or web discussions.
The Washington Post reports:
On McCain's Web site, visitors are invited to "Spread the Word" about the presumptive Republican nominee by sending campaign-supplied comments to blogs and Web sites under the visitor's screen name. The site offers sample comments ("John McCain has a comprehensive economic plan . . .") and a list of dozens of suggested destinations, conveniently broken down into "conservative," "liberal," "moderate" and "other" categories. Just cut and paste.
It's hard to believe that a campaign would so brazenly advertize this behavior. It's even more difficult to understand why McCain's supporters don't feel utter contempt for a candidate who clearly considers them too simple to articulate their own reasons for supporting him.
Incidentally, Daily Kos has been targeted for McCut-n-Paste.
