Barack Obama is the leader of a generation. Our country is at a critical crossroads - a constitutional crisis; a climate crisis ; a geopolitical end game; an economic turning point - the decisions made by the next administration will be decisive on whether we continue on a downward spiral or belief can be restored in our highest principles and the possibility of a sustainable future.
The next administration faces an enormous test of crisis management.
Barack Obama, the most stable, reassuring, surefooted and calm leader we could hope to have at this critical time, has inspired some of our most proven public leaders to join his presumptive governing team - people like former Fed Chairman Paul Volker whose calm decisiveness succeeded in breaking the back of inflation in the late 1970's and early 1980's and who was universally accepted, recently, as the trustworthy investigator of the Food for Oil UN scandal. Paul Volker has proven to be one of our most trusted people in public life. As far a I know, Volker never before has endorsed a politician, but endorsed Senator Obama early on in the Democratic primary. Paul Volker undertands perhaps better than most how precarious things have become under the current rogue administration and it is a tribute to Senator Obama's leadership, that Paul Volker trusts Barack to right our economic ship and our ship of state.
Wes Clark, like Barack Obama, is a Renaissance man, a fearless leader of good will who inspires calm and confidence.
Clark is a warrior, a humanitarian, loyal, solid as a rock, whose credentials are unimpeachable and who would crush any gibberish coming out of the right wing smear machine's efforts to spread fear.
It would be so great to see the calm, cheerful, faces of Obama and Clark, inspiring all of us to be all we can be.
It would be a landslide victory. We'd sweep the incompetents, the political hacks, the hangers on, the exploiters, the torturers, the warmongers, the environmental spoilers, the planet destroyers into the dust bin of history.
We would hold the perpetrators acountable and restore the Constitution, show the courage to bring transparency to government, mobilize the very best in innovation and creativity and have a Rennaisance of the Arts and new technologies, solve health care, achieve financial balance and move onto a sustainable path.
Competence, goodwill, well-informed decision making and a hopeful future.
Paul Volker has first hand knowledge of why Barack Obama would be great for this country. General Wesley Clark, 38 year veteran, four star general, first in his class at West Point, military hero and man of good will would reassure any who want to believe in Barack Obama but need a little assurance that this visionary young man can and will live up to his promise.
Obama/Clark would bring the house down at the Democratic Convention and inspire the country to put behind us the horror of the last 7 1/2 years to work together for a hopeful future.
