A new poll out today shows that Andrew Rice has successfully utilized his recent television ad campaign to quickly close the gap on Senator Inhofe, the Senate's biggest climate change denier.
The amazing thing here in my mind is how much ground Rice gained.
From 53-33 to 50-41.
This means Inhofe lost 3 points by Rice picked up 8. More than half of our gains in Oklahoma was from undecideds, many of whom undoubtedly saw Rice's wonderful television ads and connected with him. His past as a Christian missionary, his personal connection to the 9/11 attacks, and his bipartisan efforts to take on the HMOs, points to a man of strong character and passionate beliefs. I know I've grown to like his campaign even more after those ads.
Rice is a good, solid progressive in the state Senate, and is looking to bump Inhofe out of a job in Washington. He is also a good example of a "rising generation" of young Democrats taking on the tough races many older (and more experienced?) Democrats are shying away from.
Please go out there and show him your support, along with the other Democrats under 40 years old who are running this year.
UPDATE: Andrew Rice's campaign has just diaried about this poll result.
