Today's USA Election Poll results show that Vermont leads all 50 states in support for Senator Obama's candidacy at 63%, and ranks as one of the lowest in its support for McSame, revealing that Vermont is blessed with only 29% of the sort of folks who still drink the koolaid.
Vermont has the lowest McSame support in the nation.
WhooHoo.........
All in all, I'm pretty pleased with Vermont's Obama support. And I can't wait for Vermont's support to be overtaken by a big state, say Pennsylvania or Michigan. Vermont only has three electoral votes, so our support may be strong, but it's no big deal. Massachusetts has good support for Obama, and holds 12 electoral votes, but Ohio's big, important 20 votes show a presidential dead heat.
Here's what really concerns me:
Legend:
Map of red states and blue states in the U.S. Red=The Republican candidate carried the state in all four most recent presidential elections (1992, 1996, 2000, 2004). Pink=The Republican candidate carried the state in three of the four most recent elections. Cyan=The Democratic candidate carried the state in three of the four most recent elections. Blue=The Democratic candidate carried the state in all four most recent elections
Despite some breathtaking campaign victories, America is nowhere near Blue. There is too much uncertainty, too many undecideds, too many clouded issues, too many strident critics for this election to be a sure shot for Obama. Two million Americans may have heard the call for change and put their money on the line to make Obama president, but over half of Mississippi and Kansas voters support McSame, as do over half the other voters in 13 other states. Over half of America's states have a majority support for McSame, and the race is too close to call in too many others.
So every letter, every family member and friend convinced, every bit of money and effort that can be expended is needed. The options are almost too painful to consider, but then the second Bu$h takeaway was a heartbreaker with disastrous consequences we already know. Given the economic uncertainties many of us face, we need more and better Democrats in office.
Given the times, I'll even settle for simply more Democrats in office. Securing the White House is critical to implement change, for we are experiencing what destruction a Republican excutive can wreak at home and abroad.
