There's a little thing that wins Presidential campaigns that unfortunately has been missing from that of one Barack Obama - it's called FIGHTING. It can be base. It can be immature at times. But in the back of the electorate's mind it is often a necessary component when it comes to picking their President, and, as usual, we have not been doing enough of it nor doing it in an effective manner.
There is a wealth of gaffes and character flaws for Obama to slam McCain on on a daily basis. Yet the high road is what our candidate preaches and he dares not veer off of it, even in the slightest, even if it means watching helplessly as his poll numbers erode in swing state after swing state. Instead we hear whiny-sounding attacks on the "Low Road" campaign of McCain - which unfortunately resonates as "Stop picking on me", sounds defensive and does nothing to halt present trends.
Since Rove apostle Steve Schmidt joined McCain's campaign it has been a steady diet of ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK against Obama...and you know what? It's working. Across the board from Virginia, Ohio, Colorado, Michigan, even once semi-reliables like Michigan and Pennsylvania McCain's numbers are steadily trending upward. So don't give me this BS defending the current Obama strategy that I know plenty of you die hards are foaming at the bit to do. We are getting beat in news cycle after news cycle. Practically since the Paris-Britney ad it has been one piece of bad news after another for Obama - which coincides to just when attack dog Schmidt joined McCain's campaign.
So ENOUGH of this nice guy stuff. It's time to hit hard and hit where it hurts. Will the media cooperate? Certainly not as much as we'd like. But if Obama doesn't start lashing out soon, we are all in for four more years of McSame. Mark my words.
