So it's my turn for a VP rant. If you've read any of my posts you know I'm still gunning for Wesley Clark even though I've been told over and over about his son saying he's not the one and will be out of the country during the convention. Blah, blah, blah.
Ok, here's the rules. There are no sure things until Obama sends that first text message (although I wouldn't blame him if he sent out a premature joke one to screw with all the people sitting on the edge of their seats).
There are no rules to this game. Nobody has to be honest about this anymore than a parent needs to be honest about what Christmas presents someone's getting.
For those of you who've told me what a stand up guy Wes Clark Jr. is and how he would never lead us on, give me a break. If you were asked by your father who was about to be named a Vice Presidential candidate to play with the public a little bit and send them off track so the Republicans couldn't start their vetting early, would you do it?
I've watched all the clues coming from all directions and they all either lead to dead ends or just massive confusion. Obama's playing this perfectly. The more speculation and buzz about it, the more his campaign is out there exposed to the public.
A few little white lies or misdirections in this matter will be looked upon by everyone as absolutely valid play in this crazy game and say nothing about anyone's integrity.
Now will Wes Clark be named VP? Who the hell knows but nobody can tell me he's out of the running until that name becomes public. Biden's recent little jab at the press that he wasn't the guy is just as suspect. Any name other than John Edwards is still as valid as they were the day all this began. Hell, with Edwards I even suspect that the timing of the release of his affair was intentional by the Democrats so that McCain's marital infidelities were fair game to discuss.
I have the feeling these guys in the Obama camp are masters of human behavior. It's why they are where they are today.
Let's enjoy the ride.
