As you all know, McCain criticized Obama's ambition to be president. As Olbermann noted today, McCain knows a little about presidential ambition.
McCain stated yesterday, in his speech to veterans, (and I'm cutting and pasting from BarbinMD's diary yesterday - http://www.dailykos.com/...
"Even in retrospect, (Obama) would choose the path of retreat and failure for America over the path of success and victory. [...]
Behind all of these claims and positions by Senator Obama lies the ambition to be president."
Tonight, Olbermann reported that McCain has discussed ambition to be president in the past. In a memoir written by McCain following his 2000 presidential bid, "Worth the Fighting For," McCain wrote of his own motivation:
"I didn't decide to run for president to start a national crusade for the political reforms I believed in or to run a campaign as if it were some grand act of patriotism. In truth, I wanted to be president because it had become my ambition to be president. . . . In truth, I'd had the ambition for a long time."
This has also been discussed in the following blog, which contained the quoted language above: http//www.politicalbase.com/profile/Mark%20Nickolas/blog/&blogId=3162
