The Clintons and their people no longer deserve the benefit of the doubt with regard to putting their loyalty to the party above their pursuit of personal legacy. Two evenings ago, Tony Rodham and others met with...
Carly Fiorina!
We should be incensed that at a time that there are not enough surrogates carrying on the message of Barack Obama to all corners of the media, some who have been and are closest to the Clintons would choose such an inopportune time to play kissy-face with McCain.
From http://www.thetimes-tribune.com/... :
The attendees included Tony Rodham, Mrs. Clinton’s youngest sibling, his wife, Megan, and their two children; attorney Kathleen Granahan Kane, who coordinated Mrs. Clinton’s presidential campaign in Northeast Pennsylvania during the primary election; and Virginia McGregor, sister of Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty.
Ms. Fiorina, a failed executive, is nonetheless a potential running mate for McCain, but if nothing else a top advisor that can be expected to play a significant role in his administration. She is following through on a McCain strategy to pick up the crumbs that are falling away.
Ms. Fiorina’s daylong local visit, part of a two-day bus tour of the state, was aimed at talking disenchanted former supporters of Mrs. Clinton into supporting Mr. McCain.
There have been a few notable events by Obama to recapture PUMA-type supporters, but honestly, I still don't see former PUMAs advocating strongly enough on Obama's behalf. A speech or an editorial here or there doesn't cut it. Enough of the occasional support if and when they are pointedly asked. I want to see these people aggressively pounding the pavement to amplify the message.
Obama needs to recognize that the first rule of battle is to know who your enemies are, and who your friends are. Obama should give the Clintons clear assignments in this campaign to make DINOs such as these fall in line. If he can't deal with the Clintons and only try to placate them by giving them TWO different nights in which to display their personal agenda, how will he deal with the Republicans.
