Because I live in South Florida, I have been volunteering my time. Several times I have tried to contact the campaign but to no avail. Finally, out of sense of frustration, I contacted my field organizer regarding the direction of the campaign and how can I communicate those concerns to the campaign. Earlier this morning I had a comment regarding the conversation:
Obama needs to fight back. I just spoke with my field organizer who said that she has been hearing this refrain on the ground. She said that people are getting a bit demoralized because they do not see him fighting back especially against the celebrity meme. People want to see a fighter so they are willing to bat for him. She said that she’s been submitting reports expressing those concerns. From my impression the top people in the campaign are in a bubble. It also my impression that there’s a lot of crap going on within the democratic party that we don’t know about.
I received an email from her that explains what I need to do. I will only publish the body of the email out of privacy concerns:
Thanks for the call this morning. You brought up some interesting points and I have been speaking about them with other staff members. Probably the most
effective way for you to express your concerns to the campaign would to just
write a word document that I will attach to my weekly report. Following the
template would not be helpful for the type of things you want to say. I really appreciate you doing this. When the campaign receives concerns from volunteers I think they heed them more then when they just come from staff members. So thank you.
I submit my report Friday evenings so if you can get it to me by then that would be great.
Emphasis added
From what it sounds like the campaign will probably be more responsive to volunteers expressing those concerns or report what is on the ground. I would suggest that you contact your field organizer and see if you can provide them a Word document so that it be attached to the weekly report.
