Wow.
Better than Kennedy, says Pat. Better than MLK. Best acceptance speech ever, says Pat. And then he quotes that great passage about our soldiers fighting for red states, blue states, the United States.
Norah had to cut Pat off from, in Keith's words, "gushing over Obama's speech" because he was going over the time allowed to give his opinion.
Something extraordinary has happened tonight, folks. I'm flipping back and forth between MSNBC and Fox. My physical revulsion at seeing Howard Wolfson faded away as I heard him unequivocally praise Obama's speech.
Then I flipped back to MSNBC and caught the above scene with Pat.
Back to Fox, and am watching a montage of today at the convention: Star-Spangled Banner (who WAS that silken-voiced singer?) -- about which the Fox commnetator says "That's giving me chills" -- followed by the performance of THE best piece of Obama-inspired art ever, the original "Yes We Can" song, and Stevie Wonder, and Al Gore, and Tim Kaine, and now Barack himself saying "I've got news for YOU, John McCain: We ALL put Country First!" and quoting MLK, and crowds cheering, and dancing, and cheering, and waving flags, and cheering, and "Only In America "by Brooks and Dunn -- "one kid dreams of fame and fortune . . . one just might be President." It's been running for probably 7 or 8 minutes now, and while Greta van Susterin and Juan Williams aren't gushing like Pat, at least they're not saying anything negative either. Wow, Greta's even admitting (in response to Juan saying it wasn't very emotional) that Obama's "damned if you do, damned if you don't."
Juan: "You can see his patriotism, you can see his leadership . . . . on that level, I think it was a success."
And the three-day tracking polls showing a little bump, because the past day or two have shown a HUGE bump, which is still being depressed by the numbers from the previous day or two, suggesting that tomorrow's polls should look like what we've been hoping for for several months.
And now back to MSNBC -- Jesse Jackson, saying Obama has finally realized the promise Jackson saw in him all along.
Am I dreaming? If I am, don't you EVEN think of waking me up.
