Three years ago, on June 16th 2005 - in a windowless basement room in Washington D.C. - an awakening occurred. Americans, tired of a forth estate that coddled and coward from a rogue collection of so called leaders, forced the world to take notice of a dangerous trend. A challenge was issued, and a sleeping electorate was awakened.
Today we praise those heroes, armed with pens, and keyboards; with cameras and bullhorns. We praise the Kossacks, the DU’ers, and the ConyersBloggers. The Lukery’s, the Brad Freidman's, and today, the Droogie's. We raise the names of Keith Olbermann, Jack Cafferty, and Rachael Maddow, with our glasses. Glasses that we can now proclaim as half full!
But there are many more miles to go on this path out of the darkness. The assault on our free press continues from within its very soul.
Please read on...
Last night, we witnessed the rebirth of our nation. An event that time itself will take it’s cue from. The voices of a nation, and a generation, channeled through a single leader with one word, "ENOUGH", shook the world. And then the so called "Associated Press" through cold water on our moment.
The overthrow of the Associated Press by Murdock’s "Muse" Corp. was exposed last night when in less than a half hour, Charles Babington formally of the Washington Post, attempted to fool the world into believing that no such thing occurred. From his perch at the AP, formerly known as a down the middle newswire, Babington proved with little doubt, that the rise of Ron Fournier was not a fluke, but a sign of things to come. The AP is no longer a free press organization. It is a propaganda organization. It is a threat to our freedom.
It’s time to raise our voices again. We must say "ENOUGH"! Enough of the lies, enough of the propaganda, and enough of the bastardization of our freedoms! ENOUGH, ENOUGH, ENOUGH!!!!!
The free press is the cornerstone of our nation's freedom. The mortar that holds true this great colonnade, quarried by our Forefathers in Philadelphia, together. With pen and paper, they built the greatest monument to justice, equality, and fairness humanity has ever seen.
But today, many see that mortar loosing its strength. It is slowly being compromised by one big stone (and you know of who we speak) that has grown spitefully disproportionate to the rest of the structure that lies beneath. When that mortar gives, this sublimely idealistic structure will fall. And then all will be lost.
The builders of our great nation have left their humble tools to you and to us, in the form of the First Amendment. But we are merely the holders of the promise of the paper. The pens are in your hands; at least that's what we are hoping.
Please, do not take this warning as a threat. But heed this. The people will not be ignored, and we will not tire. We will never allow our beloved country to follow in the footsteps of the Roman Empire. But we will be heard. And we will use every tool given to us by our Founding Fathers to safeguard the rights given to us, and punish those who mean to threaten those rights, or our country. Be they foreign or domestic, ally or adversary, they will be brought to the light; Even if that means asking you for the pen back.
As Ben Franklin said, "A little neglect may breed great mischief...for want of a nail, the shoe was lost; for want of a shoe, the horse was lost; and for want of a horse, the rider was lost". Listen to the people, before the people stop listening to you.

It’s time to stand up for ourselves. It’s time to stand up for each other. It’s time to take back the pens!
Write to your local papers and voice your concerns about the direction and future of the Associated Press. Offer them the opportunity to take a stand for their readership. And make them aware of the possible tools available to them and the consequences of turning a blind eye to this threat to our nation.
Our nominee, Barack Obama is right, "This is our time". It’s time to believe in our ability to bring about real change.
