With all this speculation of the impact of Palin as the GOP Veep choice, I decided to for the first time in months to visit Taylor Marsh's site, she who trashed Obama, not to the hillaryis44 degree, but to enough level I wondered if she'd turn and vote McCain.
To her credit, she has trashed Palin as the Veep choice, in an article titled "Does John McCain think women are stupid?"
The comment section, is another story altogether. This particular one is amazingly disturbing:
On a logical level, it would make sense to say anyone who would betray their principles to vote their genitals, is stupid. The response?
This sort of calling us stupid if we decide to consider Palin is not going to work.
Palin is not be Hillary, but her selection by the GOP shows that Republicans will give women
a chance. Obama looked over the #2 votegetter to pick Biden.
I worked for John Kerry through MOVEON. I showed up at 15 Gore/Lieberman/Kerry/Edwards rallies from 2000-2004 in Florida. I have been a loyal democratic SUPER voter who is one of less than 5% who voted in my FLORIDA precinct last Tuesday in the primary. I donate a big % of my earnings to Dems up and down ticket not just in my state but through ACTBLue and Daily Kos. I belonged to NARAL, EMILY'S LIST and NOW and made annual contributions to Planned Parenthood. I really thought Obama would realize that 18 million of us supported a change.
"Change" is not Biden, who has been in the Senate for 36 years. Obama did not have to pick Biden. Obama's decision means that women like me--and I am not alone-- will drop out or move over. We have worked for, canvassed for, done mailings for and voted for dozens and dozens of men over our voting lives. I'll not miss the chance to vote for a woman even if for the first time in my life I vote for a Republican.

Now, given, I would suspect a number of people out there fakepost as Democrats to try and give their posts more credibility. My bullshit detector isn't alarming on this post though. What kind of statement is this about your own personal integrity, your own personal values, when you would so easily cave in to identity politics? The good news is that the kind of person who is saying this sort of thing was probably already lost a long time ago. The bad news is even stupid votes for McCain count just as much as reasoned ones.
Feminism is not skin deep. If you are going to betray your principles, to get a shitty female Veep now instead of a great one, or even an actual President, later, YOU ARE NOT A FEMINIST.
