You wouldn't be shocked if I told you Sarah Palin is a beauty queen
You wouldn't be shocked if I told you she is from Alaska
You wouldn't be shocked if I told you she is a governor there
You wouldn't be shocked if I told you she is the republican vice presidential nominee
But...But...what if I told you that Sarah Palin, the vice presidential nominee of the 2008 republican party supported Pat Buchanan in his very inflammatory 2000 campaign where he was accused of making several anti semitic comments.
Would you be shocked then?

From an AP report in 1999:
"Pat Buchanan brought his conservative message of a smaller government and an America First foreign policy to Fairbanks and Wasilla on Friday as he continued a campaign swing through Alaska. Buchanan's strong message championing states rights resonated with the roughly 85 people gathered for an Interior Republican luncheon in Fairbanks. ... Among those sporting Buchanan buttons were Wasilla Mayor Sarah Palin and state Sen. Jerry Ward, R-Anchorage."
Woow, I mean Woow!!!
This is what the ADL says about Buchanan
ADL Link
As an author, media figure, and political commentator, Patrick Buchanan publicly espouses racist, anti-Semitic, anti-Israel and anti-immigrant views. At one time an influential staff member in the Nixon and Reagan Administrations, Buchanan has gone on to write a number of books and articles that focus on the decline of Western civilization due to what he refers to as the "invasion" of non-European immigrants in the United States and Europe. His books, along with his weekly appearances on NBC’s The McLaughlin Group, have given him substantial mainstream exposure. Buchanan has affiliated himself with extremists in the United States and abroad, including deceased racist Sam Francis and the leaders of the Vlaams Belang, a xenophobic, racist political party in Belgium.
Now obviously, the wingnuts rebuttal to this is "Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, William Ayers, etc...etc..etc..."
But here's the difference, Obama never had any contact with Louis Farrakhan, Jeremiah Wright has numerous white friends, most prominent ones including, Martin Marty, the world famous theologian and the ADL hasn't said a word about Jeremiah Wright being anything.
Obama was 8 years old when William Ayers bombed the pentagon and the capitol hill. He is now a professor (if you want to complain about that think about the GASP number of students he "indoctrinates" at the university of chicago about urban terrorism. Its outrageous I tell ya) and a well respected one at that.
But supporting a candidate who espoused anti-semitic themes in his campaign??? Now that is going to be hard to defend...
Word around the inner circles is that Robert Wexler is already using this to pound away at John McCain in Southern Florida
Here's some food for thought to all those wingnuts,
Would you find it offensive if Barack Obama supported the New Black Panther Party, or the Black Supremacist Party for President when he was an adult?

UPDATE:
I see a lot of people are mad at me for saying that the ADL is a fascist neocon group with a neocon agenda. I beg to differ.
one more point, the point of this diary was to show the kind of guilt by association that can work both ways. Listen I don't care if Sarah Palin gets the nomination. But buchanan has a pretty bad past, including incredibly insensitive racial comments and pretty much bigoted statements on minorities.
Maybe the headline of the diary could have been worded better. I bought into the ADL link and thought he was an antisemite...and obviously did the guilt by association thing...but as one viewer pointed out...senator obama said " we are better than this" and thus I apologize for the bad headline...but still interesting to see what kind of people she supported for president. This is part of the vetting process after all...
