I just spent a good chunk of the night reading diaries and especially comments, and I have to say that I'm sort of outraged.
I don't think Gov. Palin would be a good VP even by the end of McCain's Iraq agenda (i.e. in a 100 years), and she certainly would be a terrible President. But some kossaks here are really sending the wrong message. And this is probably what the republicans expect some democrats to do and one of the reasons they picked her for VP.
I'm already sick and tired of reading (after less than 24 hours) that if Gov. Palin was McCain's choice, it was because he is obviously involved in some kind of relationship with her or that he wants to be if not yet (apparently, they only met once before yesterday).
You'll notice that I didn't use any of the sometimes very graphic words that some used here. It is totally intentional.
My point is this: There are many reasons why Gov. Palin isn't qualified for the job.
1/ She, for instance, admitted she had no idea what the VP does in a recent interview.
2/ She has no experience whatsoever should she become President.
3/ She's currently being investigated. Read the blog palininvestigated.
4/ She apparently couldn't manage the finances of a 6715-person town.
5/ She says global warming is not man made.
6/ She was a bad Mayor.
The list could go on and on and on... (hint: creationist???)
So let's attack her on her record. Let's attack her on the issues. Let's attack her on what we know about her. But let's not attack her with sexist "jokes" (think how you would have defended Hillary). Let's not attack her because some get turned on by a (very improbable) sex scandal between her and Mccain.
Democrats: Take the high road, please. There is no other way to win this one.
Keep calling her by her title. Gov Palin. This shows you show some respect to the office and to the people who voted for her.
Never make a sexist joke (even if you're a woman and you feel you can).
Keep praising her for the choice she made to give birth to her fifth baby and how brave it was. And insist on the fact that she was given the choice.
And once you're done with this, attack her very politely, very respectfully on every single issue.
