Not just because they endorsed McCain. Their reasoning is a complete denial of the truth. It show's how disconnected from reality they are, just like McCain, and just like so many voters who are believing their line of reasoning.
Wow. I just puked a little bit in my mouth. Read the most offensive part below the break.
Press release on Pam's House Blend
"On the most important issue that LGBT Americans faced in the last
decade-the federal marriage amendment-Sen. John McCain stood with us.
Now we stand with him," said Log Cabin Republicans President Patrick Sammon.
No, the most important issue that LGBT Americans faced in the last decade is shrinking wages in the face of expanded health insurance costs and not a damn bit of tax relief. Plain and simple.
Or on the purely LGBT rights front, the most important issue that LGBT Americans faced in the last decade was the rash of statewide anti-LGBT ballot measures that fanned the flames of bigotry and prejudice against our families, our jobs, our health and safety, our young ones, our transgender brothers and sisters, our LIVES. McCain supported Arizona's ballot measure and continues to support ones like California's.
No. Call them out on this bullshit. Our LCR "friends" are denying the truth about our lives. Sure, maybe in some upper echelon of socioeconomic gaydom did the FMA have a psychological effect on those couples who already had money, benefits, educations, safe positions in society shielded from the hatred stirred up in the rest of society.
Those ballot measures raised the levels of hate crimes directed at LGBT Americans everywhere they were on the ballot. The ballot measures scared legislators from expanding non-discrimination laws, family protections, and hate crimes laws. The new voter-approved laws are being used everyday as a reason to continue denying equal rights.
No. Call them out on this bullshit.
