Absolutely disgusting.
I don't know y'all. We've heard a lot of shocking stuff in the last few days and a lot of B.S, but for me this statement takes the prize on both accounts. This statement was made today by Rick Davis, McCain's manager. What the fuck is this country coming to? Not only is the election "about the issues"... it's the most important election in a generation. How can it be "not about issues". Of course it's about the issues, you bloody fools. Here we have the mindset that has brough us Paris and Brittney/The One. These people exposed themselves badly with this statement and now it's time to call them to the carpet, loudly. In the last week I've become more convinced than ever that McCain is just as bad as Bush, or worse. This quote just confirms my feeling. (I apologize for not being able to post a link, apart from www.washingtonpost.com)
From The Fix:
"McCain Manager: 'This Election is Not About Issues'
Rick Davis, campaign manager for John McCain's presidential bid, insisted that the presidential race will be decided more over personalities than issues during an interview with Post editors this morning.
"This election is not about issues," said Davis. "This election is about a composite view of what people take away from these candidates."
Davis added that issues will no doubt play a major role in the decisions undecided voters will make but that they won't ultimately be conclusive. He added that the campaign has "ultimate faith" in the idea that the more voters get to know McCain and Barack Obama, the better the Republican nominee will do."
Obama needs to pound this statement, and I have a feeling he will. Talk about making an election about small things. We need to make sure everyone knows about this quote. It is truly disgusting and shocking. The McCain camp just exposed themselves in a big way. Huge gaffe.
