And with all the P-what's-her-name, and all the McSame-his-name going on in my community here, can you blame me?
I'm not saying you've driven me to drink. No, I take that on my own initiative.
I am saying that the circumstances have been extraordinary of late, requiring especial fortitude.
Folks, what you have been dishing up is just about beyond keeping up with.
I've been trying to keep a level head. Balancing work between volunteerism for the Obama campaign, trying to keep a happy home life with my family, and all the while trying to keep focused on my personal life in the future.
It's like trying to balance many spinning plates on top of many poles. If I can pull this off the whole thing won't come crashing down on top of me. If I fail I will look like a fool.
Yet I am not afraid of looking the fool. Success means failure as you go along. Sometimes.
There comes a time in our life, occasionally, when we are entitled to declare victory. For us progressives, this time is ahead, shortly. I believe this. I also believe we must not let our guard down for a second, lest the forces against us gain an unguarded ground.
For those of us in politics here, those of us who really care about our future, our course is plain. We will not give up the fight. We will battle this out until the end. We will point out the shortcomings of our opponents whilst at the same time pointing out our accelerations, our accompishments, our strengths.
We Will Win.
In the meantime, we ought to relax and savor our work. Perhaps take a break, and have a brandy.
There's nothing wrong with that.
