My recollection of the cable news channel coverage of the Democratic convention is that they showed almost none of the featured speeches prior to the prime time 10:00 slot, and instead presented endless appearances of their network "analysts". In contrast, I'm seeing nearly full coverage of the Republican 'warm-up' speakers, with virtually no interuption by the chattering class.
Second, I recall a large number of Republican operatives being interviewed during the Democratic convention, and being allowed to provide instant GOP spin and criticism of the Democrats. Again, in contrast, I'm seeing almost none of that "other party" access during the Republican convention.
Is anyone doing an actual quantitative assessment of these factors? I'd love to see the numbers.
Thanks.
