... a sick feeling ...

Racing home to see Palin's speech tonight, I listened to Giuliani on NPR with a sick feeling. He was mean, and folks were laughing. He was sarcastic, and folks were cheering. He mocked. I especially hate that.
That's when I first heard the rips at "Community Organizer."

Palin was worse. She milked that new hideous talking point through her entire  speech. It was as if the world had turned upside down in a week. Suddenly the lofty principles of serving your community and fellow man were something to be mocked. That's even leaving aside for now the ridiculousness, in general, of minimizing what Obama has done/does/inspires others to do.

The people I know who serve their communities in "organizing" capacities are some of the most caring, selfless, humanitarian people I know. My opinion of Palin and the Republicans has sunk with my heart, as I watched thousands cheer this snide woman on, and TV Talking Heads praised her for a "great" speech.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

diaries saw how pissed I was about Giulianis direct hits to Chicago and Community Organizers. I guess living here, working as part of an organization with major community outreach initiatives, and as an admirer of Barack Obama's many accomplishments, I was very hurt and saddened that they would stoop quite so low. I guess of all of them, Rudy was the one to expect it from... but then again, Palin beat us up more. Tag team brutal attack on urban communities throughout the country.

The thousands of dedicated community organizers and the millions of Americans whose lives they touch will proceed to demonstrate the power of community organizers as we organize the community called America to vote each and every last sleazy nasty scumbag Republican out of office.

The GOP is not about community or caring, that's why they insult others who feel the need to serve others...I am not surprised.

This is the beginning of the next 8 weeks of lies, misdirection, smears, fear, evangelical radicals.....

"responsibilities" part that she included. Obama didn't feel responsible for getting people off the streets? He didn't feel responsible for helping retrain workers whose factory job was shipped overseas? He didn't feel responsible for the thousands of children who depended on their parents to rectify their life and give them a decent home? These responsibilities, Mrs. Palin, are much larger and more personal than making sure your town has an ice skating rink.

You WISH you had a candidate like Obama.

I worked in an office for a social action organization. They fought for higher wages, lower drug cost, better sidewalks, affordable housing, affordable rent, better anti-drug programs, crime prevention programs, teaching the unemployed another skill, feeding and clothing the homeless, and I can go on and on.

To me these people that I worked with are the true heros. Some of them have graduate degrees that can give them better paying jobs in politics or in law. But they rather take a drastic cut in pay to help others within the community.

I don't know about you but what ever Palin said is an insult. I am mad as hell for her hatred on those who sacrificed their time and money to help others. I bet she never helped anyone in her damn life. She probably just got through in life by looking good and flirting with men. She has no skills and she absolutely is not fit to be the VP.

I am surprised at the hatred of these Republicans. They are a dangerous bunch and Palin is leading the charge. I'm going to be donating money tonight to Obama. I will also be willing to help defeat the scum Republicans for what ever their worth. Send that idiot of a mother back to Alaska where she belongs. She is not a patriot and is nothing more than a gimmick.
