Last night we watched Mitt Romney attack Washington as liberal!
Bush/Cheney? Liberal!
Giuliani, former mayor of New Yawk City, attacked Obama as "cosmopolitan."
Did we watch a repeat update of Pat Buchanan's speech to the 1992 RNC?
For those who have not seen Pat Buchanan's infamous 1992 address to the RNC in Houston.
It's not pretty but it's worth watching:
The atmosphere has been compared to a Nazi rally. The delegates at the convention hall were cheering like crazy while the folks watching from their homes were appalled. I had been waiting for a similar event last night. I thought it would be Huckabee but it looks like Romney has rattled the saber first.
When the primaries began an eternity ago the Iraq war was top priority of most voters. Then the economy turned sour and refocused attention away from the war. With the nomination of Sarah Palin, the scab of abortion and family values has been ripped off and the far-right is energized for the first time all year.
Don't get me wrong, I think most voters won't be distracted by this but I feel that the election has just turned a corner. I am worried that this will become a distraction from more important issues causing Obama and Biden to have to discuss this crap and defend themselves on positions that were such a big deal four years ago.
