Politico has a map up showing the break down as of the latest state polls. Right now, Obama would win over McCain by 273 to 265. He does this by taking Iowa, Colorado, and New Mexico.
Colorado is 45.2 to 44.8 Obama. Iowa 51.3 to 42.3, New Mexico 47.3 to 43, Michigan 46 to 41.7, New Hampshire 44 to 43.7, Pennsylvania 47.4 to 42.4 and Wisconsin 48 to 40.8.
On the flip side, Florida is 46.3 to 43.2 to McCain, Missouri 49.7 to 42.7, Nevada 45.3 to 42.7, Ohio 44.6 to 44, and Virgina is 46 to 46.
On other states Indiana the last Rasmussen from 8/19 to 8/21 has it 49 to 43 McCain. PPP (D) from 8/20 to 8/23 has North Carolina 45 to 42 McCain. Rasmussen for Georgia on 8/14 has 53 to 44 McCain.
Obama is dispatching Female surrogates around the country to counter the Palin pick. Hillary will be sent to Florida on Monday. Also, Barack and Joe are touring states by themselves to put states into their column firmly and to make other states up for grabs. Considering that Palin will soon be going back to Alaska for a few days, it is nice to know that just counting the tickets, it will be Barack and Joe against John McCain for a while.
Of course, if you count the surrogates he is sending out, it looks like a even better plan of swarming the field. Tim Kaine will probably push to bring Virginia into Barack's column. If you are in Virginia or on the border, go out this weekend and volunteer a couple of hours to sign up voters. Let's make this a volunteer weekend for Barack and Joe.
Right now is the time to increase the ground game of registering voters and getting people to vote early, until the next chance for a game changer, the debate coming up at the end of this month.
On a side note, I saw parts of McCain's speech. Looks like he picked a VP choice that overshadows him. Wolfson, Hillary's campaign spokesman, said McCain missed his oppertunity to speak to swing voters. Also watched Barack's interview with Bill, so far so good, even though Bill is spinning it as like Bill got the better of Barack, but what do you expect. Bill has split the interview up into three different segments on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.(Going for ratings Bill?)
It was a good idea for Barack to get the interview to start Thursday, to step on John's speech. What will people be talking about Barack's interview or John's speech?
Barack will be on Countdown with Keith on Monday, I can not wait for that. Morning Joe is getting boring, with Joe and Mika shilling for Palin. Mika, it seems, thinks Palin is the greatest thing since white bread.
