Which is so infuriating to so many of us.
Perhaps they don't understand who community organizers are? (Hint for John McCain: Your Country Club's maître d' is not a "community organizer.") They are little league coaches, ministers, priests and rabbis, deacons, soup kitchen and homeless shelter volunteers and staff, Alcoholics Anonymous members and leadership.
I was contemplating that the GOP really opened the door for a great bio commercial that would underscore Obama's (winning) theme that McCain is out of touch.
And then I found this very well-done clip, which dovetails very nicely into Obama's campaign message:
I would also like to add Jane Jacobs to the names of esteemed historically significant "community organizers." Jane pushed back on Robert Moses' plan to flatten historic and picturesque Greenwich Village, NYC to build a highway in the 1960s. This grassroots fight ultimately led to historic landmarks preservation legislation that saved Grand Central Terminal from the wrecking ball. This movement proliferated across urban landscapes across our country, protecting... wait for it... AMERICA, from big money developers who would reap profit as they turned ordinary folks out of their homes.
I don't have much to say that hasn't been said many times before, and undoubtedly better. I wanted to get this video out there, in the hope it goes viral. I just wish Obama had the support of 527s to get this on people's TV screens.
