The Drudge Report, as everyone knows by now, attacked Oprah Winfrey today for refusing to put Sarah Palin on her show before Election Day.
Drudge claimed, in an unsourced item, that Oprah's staff is "sharply divided" over the question -- although Oprah quickly issued a statement saying the report was "categorically untrue."
No great surprise -- this is simply what Drudge does.
What is truly disgraceful, though . . .
is this "news story" by ABC News that picks up on the Drudge talking points:
Is Oprah Biased? Host Won't Interview Palin.
We expect the usual right wing shills to be all over Oprah -- and they are, from the New York Post to Fox News.
But this is ABC News.
Its story actually refers to "Winfrey's decision to blacklist Palin from her show."
There is no blacklist. Oprah has said that she will not have any candidate on her show until the election is over because of her decision to endorse Obama.
She has not had Obama on since he announced for President.
Oprah can certainly take care of herself. And she's been impressively firm about holding her ground on this one -- even as the right-wing noise machine threatens that she will lose viewers and magazine readers.
Still, it's disgraceful that ABC has added its voice to the GOP shills.
