I don't know that it should be a big surprise, but Newsweek is reporting that the Alaska state GOP is attempting to shut down the Troopergate investigation with the blessing of the John McCain campaign.
Yes, Mr. Bipartisan at work. Mr. Maverick doing his level best for truth, justice and the American way.
The fact of the matter is that no one really knows exactly what's going on with respect to Troopergate, but given the level of interest by the McCain camp, something stinks up north and it's not the smell of rotting salmon. If there's nothing to worry about then why not allow the investigation to run its course? Gee, that question must be waaaayy to logical and obvious. Of course given what's going on, it's because there is a huge problem.
In a move endorsed by the McCain campaign Friday, John Coghill, the GOP chairman of the state House Rules Committee, wrote a letter seeking a meeting of Alaska's bipartisan Legislative Council in order to remove the Democratic state senator in charge of the so-called "troopergate" investigation.
This is the McCain campaign that said that it wanted to reach beyond partisanship in the hopes of rebuilding America and "changing" it. NOT. A. FUCKING. CHANCE. Like Rachel Maddow said recently, it's a lie and anytime these scumbags lie, they need to be called on their bullshit.
The irony of this entire incident? John Coghill is accusing the state senator leading the charge of politicizing the incident:
Coghill charged that the senator, Hollis French, had "politicized" the probe by making a number of public comments in recent days, including telling ABC News that Palin had a "credibility problem" and that the investigation into the firing of public safety commissioner Walter Monegan was "likely to be damaging to the administration" and could be an "October surprise." Wrote Coghill: "The investigation appears to be lacking in fairness, neutrality and due process."
Fairness? Neutrality? Due process?
I live in Ohio, a battleground state and trust me, I am scared. Why? Because these bastards will do anything, ANYTHING, to win. And that includes obstructing justice to save a vice presidential candidate not experienced enought to be a frackin' dog catcher.
I cannot say this word enough: BASTARDS
Through her attorney, Sarah Palin has been trying to game the system for the past week.
