As an Obama supporter from the beginning, I have contributed the max, telephone thousands and held dozens of home fundraising/information gatherings, I am now totally discouraged by Obama's passiveness. He seems determined to fight against the Republicans even less than John Kerry. The Republicans have taken the offense and are throwing punches by the dozens and all Obama does is run around various states trying to stay above the fray. More after the jump.
My greatest concerns center around TV advertising. McCain's team comes up with hard hitting ads almost every day. Many are not aired much at all but they become very prominent in the news and on TV. Where the hell is Obama's quick repsonse team? For example:
1 - McCain tells an audience that"Palin sold the Alska jet on Ebay and MADE A PROFIT. There should be an ad out later that day stating it's just another Republican lie - the plane was not sold on Ebay and it was sold for a loss.
2 - There is a memo with Palin's handwritten notes congratulating her City Council and the fine job the Alaska delegation did in bringing pork home to her town. Where is the ad showing the memo to millions and challanging the "change" theme?
3 - The Feds are about to bail out Fannie and Freddie to the tune of billions of taxpayers money. Where is the ad which tells about the Republicans toxic aversion to oversight and regulation?
4 - Where is the ad telling Americans the unempoyment rate jumped to 6.1% and is climbing rapidly? The Republican administration is in charge of the economy.
5 - Where is the ad showing Palin assisting "King of Pork" Ted Stevens 527?
6 - Where is the ad showing McCain voting against the Bush tax cuts claiming they gave too much to the rich? But now it's okay to give to the rich.
7 - Where are the ads telling Americans the $600+ billion spent on wars so far has deferred infrastructure spending here in America where it is badly needed.
This list could go on and on but you get the idea. Here in NJ, the enthusiasm of the Obama supporters I helped build is waning fast. There is a "what's the use" attitude creeping in. Many of these people were Kerry supporters and they saw how he wimped out in defeat and now they see the same thing happening with Obama. My team points to Congressional Democrats and their unwillingness to fight Bush on virtually anything.
The question I cannot answer this morning is: are democrats and Obama willing to fight for anything? Are they satisifed to just be in the same game as the republicans even though they get run over?
