I have about zero patience left for the hand wringing and the whining.
These are recent comments and diary topics:
"The Gallup poll has us down by 10!!"
"It's like 1988 all over again!"
"At this point, we may as well pack it in because we've lost."
"F**K Democrats XY&Z because they refused to insult McCain!"
"We're not going to win."
It's so great that Kossacks have crystal balls and that they're able to use them and inform us about the results of an election that has yet to happen yet!
This news - the news that we've lost - is great! Frees up a LOT of my time!
You see, I've been making calls for Obama. I've been registering voters. I can just stop wasting all my time now. I'll stop fighting for Democrats. I'll stop trying to persuade voters. I'll just relax and wait for the McCain/Palin regime to settle in - it'll be more of the same from the last 8 years! It'll suck! But you know, we've lost...so what's the point in trying.
Right?
Or...you could get to work and help us take back our country. We have less than 60 days.
Here are some stories you can push:
Here are some actions you can take: (instead of that hand wringing you're doing)
- Donate. And then donate again. And then email all your friends and family and ask them to donate too.
- Make calls from home. It's easy. I do it every day. And when you're done making calls from home. Make some more calls from home.
- Attend an event near you.
- Pissed off about smears? Join the Action Wire Team and fight the smears. Do it here, do it at work, flyer your grocery store or the Main street in your town, etc.
- Make sure you are registered to vote.
- Join MyBarackObama.com
- Sign up to get information on campaign events.
- Explain Obama's policy stances and ideas. (And if you think this is useless - I can't tell you how many voters I have persuaded downloading this Blueprint for Change and explaining it.)
- Buy some Obama gear. Buy lots of it. Wear it everywhere. Give it to people as gifts.
Here's what I'd really like you to STOP doing:
- Stop quoting polls that are useless because we all know the media
wantsNEEDS this election to be a close race.
- Stop saying we've lost when no votes have been cast.
- Stop discouraging people from voting - when you say, "we've lost" - whether you believe it or not, whether or not YOU will go out and vote on election day, someone else may actually stay home.
- Stop comparing this election to others - this election is different from every single one in our history.
- Stop complaining that the Obama campaign didn't do exactly what you wanted, or respond exactly how you wanted. If you want to call McCain out for pushing a woman in a wheelchair - do it. You have the tools in front of you - you're already using them! Spread the word about how/why McCain sucks on Facebook, MySpace, Digg, Twitter, and every blog you are aware of. Go to media events and write Letters to the Editor and demand that the media do its job for a change.
- Stop writing 3 paragraph diaries and do some hard-hitting research instead.
We have less than 60 days. SYFPH and get to work.
Barack Obama has a message and part of that message is:
Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.
He's talking to YOU. Complaining isn't going to help us win in November - contacting voters is going to help us win. If you want to see change, it's going to have to start with YOU. That is the whole point of Obama's message. If you're not up for it - then enjoy the consequences of hand wringing. I have no desire to lose this November.
SYFPH and get to work.
