From Reuters Via the NYT:
"Preliminary information received by the investigation team by questioning neighbors and relatives showed that over 1,600 people died in South Ossetia as a result of the invasion by the Georgian army," South Ossetia's Prosecutor-General, Taimuraz Khugayev, told Interfax news agency.
Which apparently leaves another 1100 dead civilians yet to be found.
I know this isn't proof, but it sure looks damning to the Georgian / Cheney take on events.
Are we still 'all Georgians' Mr McCain?
update: And now Cheney says that South Ossetia must remain a part of Georgia (no matter what happened there) :
Cheney said the international community was united in condemning Russia's military action in Georgia and "its unilateral efforts to alter by force of arms Georgia's internationally recognized boundaries."
