Call it Katie Couric Gate... This is one of those rare moments where one campaign is caught red handed over reaching and just begging for the other campaign to slap them down. If the Obama campaign jumps all over this, the fact that the McCain group faked a commercial to fake outrage, then all of McCain's building storylines are DOA.
A really bad web ad dropped this morning (cache version here) that featured Katie Couric commentary on Sexism in the campaign, juxtaposing Obama's "Pig Lipstick" with Palin's "Pitbull Lipstick" with the tagline of "Ready to Smear".
That web ad is a FAIL.
Watch it while you can because the official version is gone, see here

Ben Smith says
YouTube has removed a webad that casts Sarah Palin as the victim of sexism on the request of CBS, whose anchor Katie Couric was featured in the ad.
“One of the great lessons of that campaign is the continued and accepted role of sexism in American life," Couric is quoted in the ad.
In the original clip, she was talking about Hillary Clinton; the ad applies her words to Sarah Palin.
This is the original commentary by Couric which applied to Clinton.
CBS asked Youtube to take it down, and take it down they did. The McCain campaign essentially faked the commentary and acted like no one would notice. A small victory no doubt, but seeing how Youtube is essentially the channel for McCain Campaign web ads, this is good news. Maybe it'll even break into wider coverage. The McCain campaign is definitely faking this sexism crap... Hopefully this is the beginning of a true backlash.
