So McShame is going to play the phony and hypocritical outrage card. They'll whine sexism, racism, elitism at the drop of (contrived) hat. They'll complain about attacks on families. Meanwhile, the are hiring up all the these ex-Bush operatives. The part of this story that is falling by the wayside is the way these guys destroyed McCain by attacking his family in a racist fashion in 2000. This gives us an in if we can get people talking about it.By bringing up the Bush operatives who slimed McShame in 2000 and now work for him, we expose the McCain fraud of calling foul for the hypocrisy it is, with the added bonus of making the entire McShame group have to relive the event (which I think could make Mr. Temper blow his top)!
It is obvious that McShame is dropping any sort of pretense of honor. I believe that making McShame defend the Bush hires, and his own "honor" at the same time can break up the recent slant in coverage and short circuit their whole outrage gig.
Let us join in a concerted effort to expose one McShame employee, Tucker Eskew, former Bush Operative and newly anointed Sarah Palin handler. I think a focused effort at making Eskew a part of the Palin story could bust open the whole charade.
Who is Tucker Eskew you ask? Here is a link to his bio at Eskew Strategy Group. Here is a link to his White House Bio.
In short he's been around as a Bush Operative since at least Reagan-Bush '84. The important part of his bio is this:
Tucker directed communications for the South Carolina presidential primary campaign of then-Governor George W. Bush.
We all know what happened to McShame in South Carolina
A smear campaign during the primary in February 2000 here had many in South Carolina falsely believing that Mr. McCain’s wife, Cindy, was a drug addict and that the couple’s adopted daughter, Bridget, was the product of an illicit union. Mr. McCain’s patriotism, mental well-being and sexuality were also viciously called into question.
Some of you may be more well versed in the story than I am, but I searched these archives and Tucker Esker doesn't appear to show up at Kos in the last couple weeks.
According to Jake Tapper of ABC News, he has been told that Tucker Eskew was involved in smearing McShame:
Eskew, along with Warren Tompkins and Neal Rhodes, were key members of then-Gov. George W. Bush's South Carolina team during the 2000 primaries. McCain and his team long held Bush, Tompkins, Rhodes and Eskew responsible for the various smears against McCain and his family in the Palmetto state during that contentious contest.
Eskew was brought on board the McCain campaign, it was announced Monday, to help prepare Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin for her role as McCain running mate. Eskew will help Palin prepare for her Wednesday night acceptance speech at the GOP convention and for her stump speech as she hits the road, brief her on policy matters, and help her handle the media scrutiny a lifetime in Alaska does not necessarily prepare one for.
In that quote above, we also find out that Tucker Eskew, alleged South Carolina dirty-op and a racist smear agent not above attacking families, is now a key handler for the blooming flower Sarah Palin herself.
As we all know, Sarah Palin is herself under unfair attacks on her family. /snark
I was reading a Jonathan Martin article at Politico today about the Bush team he is hiring:
Traveling with her and working with the press are Tracey Schmitt and Tucker Eskew. Each is taking a leave from private sector public relations-related jobs to work the final stretch.
Schmitt worked on both Bush campaigns and ran the Republican National Committee communications shop before leaving a year ago to work for a biopharma company. Eskew is a longtime GOP strategist who was a top aide in the first Bush campaign and later worked in the White House before co-founding his own public affairs firm.
Pretty lame summation of Eskew if you ask me.
Now Martin might know the true story of Eskew and is being coy, he might not. I think he knows how much of a sleazebag this guy is.
Hiring a person like Eskew to run around with Palin at the same time they are trying to gin up stories about unfair attacks on her makes them look like total hypocrites. What happens if every time Sarah Palin comes into the picture, the name Tucker Eskew is brought up? Imagine now, if every time the Republicans tried to complain about "attacks" on Palin, they had to defend Tucker Eskew being her right-hand man?
I comment on a lot of news articles, and I often call in NPR shows and whatnot. It is a daunting task to make the media deal with stuff like this. What I am asking with this (hastily and badly composed) diary is that every time you write a comment at a traditional news source, send an e-mail, call in to call in show, or talk to a friend about Palin you throw Tucker Eskew's name out there. Some of you may know better sources for the backstory, and I know there are people out there with connections who could read this diary and do more with it this line of attack on McShame than me.
Please do so.
