ABOARD PALIN CAMPAIGN PLANE -- The McCain campaign is "very seriously considering" having McCain and Palin campaign together more often than not in the next two months, a senior campaign aide said, adding it could be the most a presidential and vice presidential candidate campaign in tandem in recent history.

Has everyone noticed that Sen. McCain cannot campaign on his own. He depends on "friends" and "handlers" -- it used to be Sen. Liebermann, Sen. Lindsey Graham and Dr. Phil Gramm (the now-discredited economist) who were at his side, whispered in his ear and turned him the right way. Sen. McCain desperately wanted to travel with Sen. Obama to town hall meetings, and has remained bitter that Sen. Obama declined. Now it's Gov. Palin -- it would appear that Sen. McCain just can't handle it on his own...maybe he has a hearing problem, maybe he needs other people to show him the way, maybe he is a very lonely person. In any event, we need a president who can stand on his own and face the music on his own. This is also a way of keeping Gov. Palin at hand, to refute her "misstatements" and keep her from going off on tangents that might be harmful to McCain's candidacy. Normally, two people campaigning independently would bring twice as much attention to the party and cover twice as much ground.
