Dark storm clouds on the horizon, financial markets in decay, tsunami of debt about to crash on the US shores, greedy banks, big government, housing prices collapsing, hordes of toads, swarms of locusts .... what the huddled masses need is a super hero!
The never ending battle for truth, justice and equality can fall to only one man...
Super Joe.
Determined to weed out the bullshit in todays financial institutions of greed, corporate cronyism, corruption where it is found and .... oh what the hell .... THEAVERY!
Afterall that is what is going on here fellow citizens. This is not complicated... people need to be going to jail.
I am not talking about debtors prison ... oh hell no... for the most part those are people with pride and a decent moral compass. The working people in this country only want what generations before them wanted. We bought into the American dream, where you played by the rules, worked hard, earned a little living, went to church, had a few nice things, maybe got to take the family on vacation once a year. In the end left a little for your children so they might be better off than the generation before them.
Neh, good hard working people who worship Super Joe .... I am talking about creditors prison. The very same ones who manipulated the financial world for their own greed and domination.... again.
Class warfare is back fellow earthlings in its same old form of hooded ghoul and sicle.
Super Joe has written many times about the evils inflation and the chief cause of it The FED.... but today Super Joe found the answer to where government adjusted hedonics will take us.
For a brief bit of history the US Government has adjusted the way it calculates the Consumer Price Index (CPI) many times in the last few decades.
The first was under Reagan when they adjusted the price of housing to owners equivalent rent. Next, under Clinton, they changed the basket of goods to be more reflective of the economy using "Substitution".
"Super Joe" what is this 'substitution'?"
I will tell you good citizen. Under substitution, for example, the federal government will 'substitute' steak for chicken. Rationalizing that as the price of steak rises people will eat more chicken instead.
"But Super Joe," you ask, "what happens when chicken becomes to expensive?"
Well dear earthling
The price of Rat Meat in Cambodia has increased 400% as investors flee from inflation!
PHNOM PENH (Reuters) - The price of rat meat has quadrupled in Cambodia this year as inflation has put other meat beyond the reach of poor people, officials said on Wednesday.
With consumer price inflation at 37 percent according to the latest central bank estimate, demand has pushed a kilogram of rat meat up to around 5,000 riel (69 pence) from 1,200 riel last year.
Spicy field rat dishes with garlic thrown in have become particularly popular at a time when beef costs 20,000 riel a kg.
I have stood atop tall buildings, climbed the highest mountains, strained aloft my soapbox and bellowed like only Super Joe can ... "Inflation is the enemy. The FED, with US Govt' assistance is destroying our country ... specifically destroying our currency... our freakin money for crying out loud." I have said it before and I will continue to say it until the cries of the masses ring in my ears "We get it, you stupid super hero" ...
Silly earth humans... it is not HOW MUCH money you have ... it is HOW MUCH your money can buy. I am talking about QUALITY .. not QUANTITY!
Look at our friends in Cambodia ..Inflation has eroded their purchasing power. They use the same currency, these are the same rats ... so what changed? Did the rats all of a sudden become a worldwide delicacy in need of export?
Why is Super Joe so concerned about Cambodians eating rats? Not because its pretty disgusting... it is ... but when you hungry? eh? No Super Joe is here to protect his minions from the ravages of inflation and greed.
Unless you have been living under a rock you might have noticed that almost 300 financial institutions have folded. Most recently Fannie and Freddie. How does this relate to you?
"This is a doubling by the Democratic Congress, and Congress controls the purse strings," said Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.).
Democrats called that assertion preposterous, noting that much of the increase was the result of measures that received strong Republican support: one to return billions of dollars to taxpayers as part of the economic stimulus package and another to increase war funding. Bush signed legislation this summer to pay for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan through the rest of his presidency, bringing total Iraq spending to more than $650 billion and the total for Afghanistan to nearly $200 billion.
"So they're fully responsible for the increase in the deficit," said Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad (D-N.D.). "All of this happened on their watch, under their president."
Dont get sucked into the minutia, the finger pointing, all the B.S. that spews forth from the two headed red/blue dragon ... they are all dirty, they have all been implicit and they use the left/right argument to distract you.
My x-ray super vision cuts through to the heart. It is not left/right ... it is what it has always been up/down ... the haves and have nots.
Sorry Senator but it was your Congress who signed this latest gift of billions of dollars so now you have taken ownership of this mess, rather the US taxpayer. It would be nice to be able to deflect it .... but the fact is that in 2006 the good citizens of the United States sent a message ... the message was vote Democrat and get us out of Iraq! Did you listen? Did Congress listen? No. They want a veto proof majority. I call bullshit. What we need is a Congress who is representing the people.
What we need is a super hero!
Eh-hemmm .... But I digress ..what you should have garnered from the Congress Critters above that they literally just increased the national debt by 6 trillion dollars over the weekend. But wait there's more...
WASHINGTON -- House Democratic leaders are considering a $25-billion rescue package for the auto industry as part of an effort to bolster the sagging U.S. economy.
"This is very, very important. It's an important industry in our country," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco) said. "It's about jobs. Jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs."
Well she got one thing right.. it is an important industry, but not to the step of nationalization. This is Amerika ... which now means corporate socialism and free market capitalism for the unconnected.
And what about the mythical little man? The one Super Joe is here to protect? The one that those mortgage giants were created to provide affordable housing?
Some checks are already being written. The Treasury Department last week began issuing millions of dollars in "Hope bonds" to fund refinance loans for homeowners facing foreclosure. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were supposed to pick up the tab. Now it's on the government.
[..]
James B. Lockhart III, director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, barely mentioned affordable housing Sunday as he described an eight-point plan for the companies. Instead, he chose to underscore a broader mission: "the critical importance each company has in supporting the residential mortgage market in this country."
Once again with laser like precision Super Joe comes to the rescue.
Its not about affordable housing anymore... its about "preserving the residential mortgage market" ... or said another way ... diversifying risk away from those who profited most. Dont take my word for it.
When the government assumed control of the firms, it also took over the obligations.
[..]
The more immediate of the two obligations arises from a deal the government struck with lenders: If you, the lenders, agree to write new mortgage loans for borrowers reflecting the current value of their homes, we, the government, will promise to repay those loans even if the borrower cannot.
We stand ready to bail out all those insider corporations, the wealthy, the banksters, insurance and investment houses with tax payer funded bailouts but the voting public? ... well ... you better get a Super Hero. Or as my least favorite politician said... John Doolittle "You want to get my attention? Hire a lobbiest.
Super Joe loves America... not Amerika ...and he wants to see her thrive and become the shining beacon she once was. The dream of America.
I weep for the grandchildren.
A billion here, a billion there, pretty soon it adds up to real money.
