In today's Wall Street Journal, Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild decries the elitism (Gasp!!)of the Democratic Party from the relative safety of her plush antique fainting couch.
Democrats need to shake the elitist tag
More on her unmitigated gall after the jump.
Lady de Rothschild, a strong Hillary Clinton backer who wrote the infamous letter to Nancy Pelosi in March 2008 threatening to cut donations to Democrats if the superdelegates were not free to back Hillary Clinton regardless of who won the primaries.
Lady de Rothschild's impressive CV includes being director of Estee Lauder Inc, CEO of EL Rotschild Inc, President of First Mark Holdings, director of The Economist, Executive Vice President of the Metromedia Company, etc. etc.
Clearly, Lynn Forester de Rotschild has impressive working class credentials. Street cred out the ying yang!
Now, she has decided that she needs to speak for millions of working class Americans !! Thank the Lord above for the good Lady de Rothschild for speaking for me and my ilk down here in the ditches and cotton fields of America!
If Barack Obama loses the presidential election, it may well be the result of a public perception that he is detached and elitist -- a politician whose expressions of empathy for hard-working Americans stem more from abstract solidarity than a real connection to the lives of millions of citizens.
Dipping her diamond studded quill pen into a lovely pearl-encrusted ink well filled with an ounce of authentic octopus ink from a rare endangered species of lovely pink crustacean, Lady de Rothschild continues pleading for American workers:
Mr. Obama is not connecting to millions of middle- and working-class voters,
How does the good Lady de Rothschild know this? Presumably she asked her butler as he was bringing in a silver tray of tea and crumpets:
"Charles, while you're filling my tea cup, could you please tell me how the little people feel about this, this Barack O--Bama person that's running for President. He seems so elitist, the way he speaks as if he has an Ivy League education or something. I mean, your people aren't buying all this talk about HOPE and CHANGE are they?"
"No, madame, I think the Senator from Illinois is stepping out of his place. All my people are quite certain that Senator Obama is an uppity elitist, talking down to the common folk, madame."
"Oh thank you Charles, I was certain that must be the case. I'll call my friends at the Journal and get some space reserved in their editorial pages for tomorrow so that I can denounce the elitism of the Democratic Party for nominating that horrid man for president. We regular folks have to stand up for ourselves. Oh, and Charles can you run my bath water, I really must freshen up a bit before going to the country club this afternoon."
All snark aside: When are the American people going to tire of being told by pampered gazillionaires who is or isn't an elitist?
