I've seen a lot of the truly freighening statements (war with Russia), lack of knowledge (Bush Doctrine, who is the true President of Russia, etc.), and double-speak and/or non-answers to EVERY question Gibson asked her (mission from God, global warming, etc.). What I found most disturbing, however, was her complete arrogance in her belief that she deserved the honor to be Vice President.
When Palin was asked if she was hesitant about accepting the nomination, she said that she wasn't. In fact, she seemed like it was a claim of right.
When asked if she, a mother of 5 with a new baby who was mayor of a 5,000 - 6,000 person town in Alaska, then governor of Alaska for 2 years, was deserving or ready to be Vice President, did she say she had to pause, absorb, digest, hesitate, ponder, reflect? No. Did she have to think about it? No. Did she have to balance the responsibility of the office she is running to hold versus the responsibilities of her family? No. Did she think whether it was good for the Country if she ran for Vice President? No.
First, let me make it very clear that I am NOT saying that a mother (new mother or not) can't hold office and a father (Obama with 2 young girls as we all know) can, or that a man can do it beter. What I am saying is that she didn't even ask herself the question. She didn't wonder if it was best for her and her family. Really? Wouldn't any rational human being, male or female, when called on the phone without even being truly vetted, ask themselves at least if they are "worthy" of the honor to be Vice President, and more importantly if they are "ready"?
I find her to be beyond selfish or even naive, she's egomaniacal. It's as if she was waiting by the phone believing she deserved it.
