A simple idea, but one that can never be emphasized too much. Low information voters, a fair number of them, may still see Obama as some sorta-foreign-guy, at the same time they see McCain/Palin as Rocky, Part 72 ("still standing after all these years") plus a gun-toting Xena in rimless glasses. That's why Obama has to keep emphasizing national security, and taking the fight to our deadly enemies.
And the economy too (not to mention "family values"); but all that plus beating the living spit out of the terrorists. (Not literally beating, as in "torture", but still...)
I've already noted how he--correctly--mentioned the importance of getting Osama during his convention speech; if O keeps pounding on that, he may just remind people that he can incarnate the American fighting spirit of 9/11 even better than Bush (or his designated Republican successors) can.
"Yes he can!" (?)
(more below)
(Cf. CNN, McCain, Obama come together on service,
..."On 9/11, Americans across our great country came together to stand with the families of the victims, to donate blood, to give to charity, and to say a prayer for our country," Obama said. "Let us renew that spirit of service and that sense of common purpose."
Meanwhile, a CNN poll out Thursday suggests that voters view McCain as the better presidential candidate to handle terrorism but do not consider terrorism their primary concern in voting.
Nearly two-thirds of those surveyed, 62 percent, believe that the Republican presidential nominee would be the better candidate to handle the issue of terrorism, compared with 34 percent who believe that his Democratic rival, Obama, would be better on the issue. ...

Quasi-update: after writing the Obamaism.org version of this, I discovered this AP article, McCain, Obama put politics aside to mark Sept. 11,
...The Illinois senator added: "Let us remember that the terrorists responsible for 9/11 are still at large, and must be brought to justice." ...
Great minds, etc.
