I don't need anyone to tell me the Presidential race is important to write about. I fully agree with kos that we need to play hardball with the Republicans and never relent.
But if it's a narrative y'all want, it can be made even stronger by writing about down-ticket races.
Whether it's Republican Shelly Capito echoing George Bush's damned fool words in West Virginia, Iowa's Steven King claiming Islamoterrorists will dance in the street if Obama wins, or Chris Smith in New Jersey with his homophobic rants, the playbook is the same.
Republicans are using every dirty trick to suppress the vote, in Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, and that's just off the top of my head from reading the most recent Election Race Diary Rescue.
If we're going to play hardball, we have to play state by state as well as nationally.
I know there are many Kossacks here who are working on downticket races, Congressional, Senate, and locally as well, Secretary of State and even school boards. All of these races are important and I want to hear about them. I want to be informed by people I trust -- and that would be citizen journalists.
I've linked above to the Election Race Diary Rescue. It's front paged every day. We did this in 2006 as well and because there was no Presidential race, we rescued thousands of diaries and educated ourselves in the process.
It's not just McCain and Palin I want to beat. It's the entire Republican party, from dogcatcher to President. Their political philosophy is a poison in this land and won't be easy to purge.
I am asking anyone who is working on a state and local race or anyone who is following same to write diaries on their experiences and thoughts. Some of the best diaries I've read were of folks who are on the ground in local races no one is even paying attention to ... but whose passion and conviction is inspiring and whose efforts will help our whole country.
So you lurkers out there and you folks who don't think it's worth your while to write of your experiences, please reconsider. Your diaries will appear on the front page in the ERDR, but more importantly, you will help us play that hardball against the corrupt and lying politicians who are running in every city and state in the union and need to be stopped as much as McCain/Palin.
Thanks for reading. And please ... WRITE!
