I am struggling with this election and how it can possibly be close. This must be a Greek Tragedy.
Here’s some perspective:
AIG has 116,000 employees.
114,697 people voted for Sarah Palin in the 2006 Alaska gubernatorial election.
Wasilla, Alaska has a population of 6,000 while Merrill Lynch has 64,900 employees and Lehman Brothers has 28,600.
We have a financial markets crisis that may crush Wall Street tomorrow as Merrill Lynch had to sell itself, Lehman Brothers announced that it will file for bankruptcy, and American International Group (AIG) is looking for a $40 billion bailout from the Federal Reserve.
The Republican ticket of McCain/Palin knows nothing about the economy. Worse yet they will continue on the path that got us to this breaking point with $175 billion per year in tax cuts for corporations and $45 billion per year in tax cuts for the top 200 corporations alone and no middle class tax relief. Are you kidding me?
Perhaps it is Oedipus The King (John McCain) and Antigone (Sarah Palin) by Sophocles. Read on...

With the economy in the tank and the fundamentals not strong at all, a housing and foreclosure crisis, rising prices due to gas prices, massive job losses, wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and huge disapproval of George W. Bush, there is no way this election can be close.
Either the polls are a joke or this is a Greek Tragedy.
Perhaps it is Oedipus The King (John McCain) and Antigone (Sarah Palin) by Sophocles. The characters portray ignorance to reality and selfish pride but ultimately suffer from self-inflicted demise. Oedipus (McCain) and Antigone (Palin) were both loved by their people, in this case the Republicans. However Oedipus' (McCain’s) legacy was destroyed due to unnatural family (Republican) relationships, and in this case it is the relationship with George W. Bush. These characters ultimately bring about their own demise and I’m hoping that happens in the debates.
