It just gets better and better...now Gov. Sarah Palin promises to bring an Alaskan reform to Washington:
"I've got another idea that I think Senator McCain likes. In Alaska, we took the state checkbook and put it online, so everyone can see where their money goes. We're going to bring that kind of openness to Washington," she said.
Just one problem, Sen. Obama already helped pass the law which did just that. But it gets better...
As some of you might remember, Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. Tom Coburn teamed up to co-sponsor a bill that created the website USASpending.gov; which tracks federal contracts and expenditures in an easily searchable site.
Only, there was one problem, some Senator placed a secret hold on the bill to keep it from getting passed. That Senator? None other than Pork King and Sarah Palin mentor Ted Stevens. Yes, while she was directing Stevens' 527, he was blocking the same reforms that have now passed, and which Sarah Palin claims she'll bring to Washington.
Update:
Emptywheel brings up this very timely quote from Sarah Palin's acceptance speech:
And there is much to like and admire about our opponent.
But listening to him speak, it’s easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform - not even in the state senate.
