OK, so it has been drip, drip, drip since we first heard about Ms. Palin.

I feel that we are forgetting to sum total of what we have learned about her in the last two weeks.

Here is a list of what we have learned about her.

Can you add to the list?  Provide links?  I will update as we gather more information.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

    Forget Palin

Focus on McCain.  Focus on McCain's lies.  Focus on McCain's self-dishonor.  Focus on McCain's weak legislative record.  Focus on McCain's selection of neocons too crazy for Bush.  Back off on the McCain=Bush stuff, and focus on McCain's own foibles.

Palin is a smokescreen.  Yes, she will bring out some true believers who don't care who sits behind the desk in the oval office.  As long as their belief is true enough, God will guide their hand, so who they are doesn't matter.  Palin will bring out a few women who feel that she's like them, but she isn't, and then need to see that.

Focus on McCain.  Even if you show everyone how truly bad Palin is, they still might vote for McCain, and they need to know the whole McCain story.

If Monegan was really fired for seeking federal funding for sexual assault cases (, my question is- why didn't she give him the funding from the state?  Alaska has such a huge surplus every year that they send a big check to every resident.  She couldn't find a little money in there to fight being the rape capitol of the U.S.?  Why did he have to go the DC in the first place to fight it?

today in the Washington Post. (opens in new tab/window)

There's a diary about it over on the rec list, I believe.

    A snippet:

What impressed me most about McCain...blah blah blah...It had to do with integrity.

McCain has soiled all that. His opportunistic and irresponsible choice of Sarah Palin as his political heir -- the person in whose hands he would leave the country -- is a form of personal treason, a betrayal of all he once stood for. Palin, no matter what her other attributes, is shockingly unprepared to become president. McCain knows that. He means to win, which is all right; he means to win at all costs, which is not.

Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

    Fairbanks hardware store to downsize
Company cites competition from nearby chain stores

    By Christopher Eshleman

    Published Sunday, June 1, 2008
Sale signs hang throughout the store at OK Lumber Ace Hardware Thursday afternoon, May 29, 2008. Due to increased competition with box stores, the longtime locally owned business is having to reorganize, with a planned downsize of their existing store and an opening of a second store at a different location.

"We just have too many buildings and too much property here for our business of today," said Rich Kruckenberg, whose family started OK Lumber/ACE Hardware four decades ago.

Kruckenberg’s family originally opened the store northeast of town. They moved into the city to the current six-acre location, on the corner of Illinois Street and Phillips Field Road, in 1989, he said. He said he bought ownership shares from his family and became the sole owner in 1996.

Kruckenberg and general manager Jordan Halden said a strip of relatively new big-box retail stores in the northeast corner of town have reinvented the market for construction materials, hardware and tools in Fairbanks during the past decade. They said the competition has drawn customers away at a blinding clip, with average daily customer counts falling noticeably during the past eight years.

Add that to increased overhead costs, and the company can only employ 14 workers now, compared to about 50 in 2000.

The store’s changes come as state transportation planners prepare for a long-discussed road construction project on Illinois Street. The state is buying slices of land along the road in advance of the project, set to begin in 2010.
