I called 35 people today.

Maybe that will inspire you. I will call again tomorrow and try to make the video better...

And I got two people to donate at my fundraising page... so we're up to $400. If you can't call... pitch in. Thanks.

Obama site sucks. Here is an exchange I had on Facebook:

Yeah, I did. Also tried to track down one of those 25 name lists but gave up.

The site sucks. I could complain all day...you make an account with my.barackobama.com (make sure the my. is there like that as a subdomain) then go ACTION CENTER > I'LL TALK TO ANYONE > NEIGHBOR TO NEIGHBOR > then you should see "OPTIONS AVAILABLE" and one is call people in IL and another is battleground... which are SWING STATES... but I tried to log out and log back in with a new email address from a different computer (in the same house) and it was screwey... The site sucks. They seem to be hiding the info. Or they aren't sure about this program... or the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. But never mind that. Try that...

See my blog for more of these exciting videos of people hanging up on me.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?
Are you sure you want to remove your recommendation? You can only recommend a diary once, so you will not be able to re-recommend it afterwards.
Rescue this diary, and add a note:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from Rescue?
Choose where to republish this diary. The diary will be added to the queue for that group. Publish it from the queue to make it appear.

You must be a member of a group to use this feature.

Add a quick update to your diary without changing the diary itself:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary?
(The diary will be removed from the site and returned to your drafts for further editing.)
(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?

You don't seem very sincere when making your calls, or enthusiatic. Could be why the hang-ups.

the purpose of your diary. It seems you pointed out that you were getting hung up on when calling for Obama. And pointing out that the website doesn't work.

If your goal is to be more effective then maybe you could focus more on sincerity and enthusiasm. Not meant to disrespect only constructive criticism.

People pick up on that especially when a stranger is on the other end.

        All the best.

      •  I thought you were very good... (0+ / 0-)

I usually get nervous when I make calls, and I really liked your low-key "delivery", and the way you seemed to listen to the people you called (at least the ones who didn't hang up on you!).

THANK YOU for doing this! I'll try to push through my natural shyness (really) and do some phone-banking myself...

I am Dyslexic, it is a battle (which I often lose) to write without error. Thanks in advance for putting up with my mistakes

  •  I will call voters I am fired up! (0+ / 0-)

    I Love IT!

  •  Honest and inspiring (0+ / 0-)

That is exactly how my calls have been, but I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one. And I'm actually inspired that it's a matter of persistence over many calls and group effort. If we can each convince just 1 undecided or unmotivated voter throughout the next month, imagine the effect of 500,000 callers.

  •  I've been doing that since June (0+ / 0-)

I hate calling people at dinner time, and I really don't like to do it, but if not this year, then when?

Calls from a volunteer are effective, but person-to-person contacts are the best. Let's all make an effort to do both. We've got a country to save.
