Last night Rachel Maddow bested Keith Olbermann's numbers, not only that, she beat long time CNN work horse Larry Kings show in the ratings. Folks, this is no small task and I think a huge congrats should go out to Keith O. and MSNBC suits for taking a chance on this fine talent that many of us here at the KOS and elsewhere in the blogosphere knew was going to go far.
She has proven to be the real deal and each night her show is improving, she seems to get more comfortable with the TV Machine format and I predict that it's only going to get better with time.
Amazingly, even Morning Joe had nothing but nice things to say about Ms. Maddow and his experiences with her at MSNBC. He said
TV folk are some of the craziest folk I know, as Krusty the Clown might say. But she is a good, good person. We probably don't agree on anything politically. But she's respectful of people, and it's great. File this under, one of those good people doing well."
What can I say? It's nice to have another very strong voice out there arguing the progressive narrative as a balance to all the right wing nut jobs that have for so long monopolized the airwaves...and to be successful as well makes the win all the sweeter.
Congratulations Rachel and here's to many years bringing real balance to the debate that this country needs to have and wicked smart analysis as well!!
Check out the video here of Morning Joe and Mika talking about Rachels great ratings night!
UPDATE:
Thanks for all the great recs and comments. I just wanted to let Rachel know that we appreciate all she is doing. It might not be a bad idea to drop a note to rachel@msnbc.com and let her know that we appreciate her as well.
While we are at it, a note to her bosses at MSNBC might not be a bad idea as well.
