I am very, very angry about the bailout. So I wrote a poem while listening to John Mellencamp's "Rodeo Clown."
Well there’s green on the hands of the rich politicians
Greed is the thing that drives the economy.
People were losing their jobs, homes, and health insurance.
But they told us there was nothing there for us to see.
So they blamed it all on credit default swaps
They made up stories and baked pies in the sky
People lost saw their jobs shipped overseas, and became beggars.
They passed those beggars. They knew they were wrong.
Until they saw they were about to lose everything.
Hands out, they went to Washington to beg for a bailout .
They convinced the pols to flush a trillion dollars down the drain
So the people wouldn’t know the house had fallen down.
The people wanted to change directions.
They thought they found a person who would.
But it turned out that he was born without a spine.
Those greedy green eyes of the politicians.
There are people sleeping in the streets
They used to have homes and families
Now they have card board boxes
And maybe a burrito on a good day
They’re there because of the lies and liars
Those greedy green eyes of the politicians.
