As the self-described mad canvasser here in Tippecanoe co., I'm pleased to report that I'm seeing a turnaround here, in the field. I knock every avail. hour that I can, and I must confess ... to having been a little pesimisstic - during the two weeks following the GOP convention.
One of the legendary pals of our old primary office, NWTerriD ( http://nwterrid.dailykos.com/ ), as well as many folks I know, seem to be saying/reporting that the situation is turning.
I'm posting this diary entry simply to say ... in my foxhole, things are looking up!
I canvass every hour that I can - I don't have time to pay attn to the polls, or to worry about the news cycles (altho' I try to watch them, unfortunately I haven't broken down and bought a TIVO ... you don't know how much I miss Chris, Keith, Rachel sigh
I know my Laf. precincts. Numbers be darned (sorry, I can't swear here.) I know my voters. And I'm telling you - those polls are arguably accurate.
Palin's star is fading, McCain's pick is appearing more like a "Hail Mary" pass, than a genuine expression of his views on governance.
From my POV (and this is only what I see from my little foxhole), we have a lot of older voters to bring out, who are generally w/ us on policy, but who "aren't going to vote." I keep turning them, every night.
IDK what the situation is elsewhere, but it's time to review my next walk packet, so I can deal w/ it efficiently.
What have you done for the Obama campaign, recently? Do you live in a swing state? Can you walk or do calls?
We need all hands on deck, right now!
