I apologize in advance if this is a bit brief. I'm working off my blackberry here and hadn't planned ahead to do any sort of live blogging.
Barack is in Charlotte for his first appearance since early summer. Polls here in NC have been all over the place with the most recent showing a 1 point McCain lead. I realize its still a long shot, but NC really would be a game changer. In the past week McCain has opened 22 offices and hired fresh staffers in the state conceding this one is getting too close for comfort.
So here I am, standing in line for a 1:00 rally at just after 1. I've been in line for close to an hour, and would guess probably at least that to go. There are two lines coming into the outdoor venue in uptown (just a blocked off square), and each of them are wrapping 20-25 blocks, snaking all over. I read yesterday Obama drew 16000 in Jacksonville. This is gonna blow that out of the water!
Keep an eye out for a forming media narrative as the polls here show a tightening race and we're gonna have some great visuals from todays rally!
Things are getting very exciting here in the Tarheel state!.
Ill post some photos when I get back this evening.
UPDATE:
Didn't make it in! By the time Obama finished his speach was about halfway through the line! There was a solid mile or so of people still in line when we, heads hung low, came home and are now watching the speach on youtube.
Great turnout though! I'm proud of my homestate, and hometown! Lets keep our foot on the gas here in NC!!!
