I believe given the dramatic happenings in the finacial world that the focus of the first debate should be changed to economic and domestic issues from foreign policy. Our focus right now needs to be on domestic issues and the economy. In particular, we need to hear what the candidates have to say on the economy given the current financial crisis.
I may be mistaken but wasn't the first dabate originally scheduled to be on the economy and domestic issues? I think that domestic policy and the economy must be the focus for the first debate given the current financial crisis. The American people want to hear the candidates talk about the economy more than anything else right now. Why should we veer of onto foreign policy at this point in time?
Daily Kos readers should speak up and ask that the focus of the first debate be switched from foreign policy to domestic policy and the economy. Let's hear what Senator Obama and Senator McCain have to say about the current financial mess and how to solve it and not just short term but long term. And since so many other areas of domestic policy are tied into the economic health of the country it makes even more sense to switch the focus of the first debate and to do so right away.
If we at Daily Kos start clammering for a change in the debate focus other progressive blog sites will do the same and who knows maybe even conservstive bloggers will push for it as well. Seems to me they might really want to hear what the candidates plan to do about this economic mess we are in just as much as we do.
If we shout loud enough maybe we can get the attention of the candidates and the MSM and we can get the focus changed. But we need to act now as the candidates (well at least Obama) plan to begin debate prep starting on Monday, September 22.
So speak up and let's hear what you think of this idea.
