I just have to send this message out and hope some Obama staffer reads this and the message is sent to Barack. (below fold)
I think he is an amazing candidate. I am truly impressed. When I think of him as our president, I truly am hopeful and optimistic that we as a nation can and will accomplish anything.
BUT... I FEAR, FEAR, FEAR what will be of this country and whether "America" will exist (if it does now) if he loses.
I want to send Barack and his campaign a message: STAND UP TALL AND FIGHT NOWWWWWWWWWWWWW! Do not be cautious. Stand up for people. The voters will be there. Show spine and fight back now. The momentum until now means NOTHING if we do not stand up.
McCain would love to use this to differentiate himself from Bush as the Teddy Roosevelt. Obama needs to look to F.D.R.'s legacy and stand up.
There comes a time for leadership. This is it. Speak the truth. You have spoken the truth on this bailout - but cautiously - and all those words will not be anything unless you stand up and show it with action and your vote as a Senator!
Take it to them!
I actually tentatively published/wrote this here, because it is scarey to recognize the gravity of a stance against this bailout to all of our futures, and I want in a way to talk myself into/rationalize this away and believe we can win and still change this country even if our Democratic "leadership" compromises again, but the people are watching and this is too, too important. A strong stand is needed. Krugman is right on.
