And boy, was the turnout fantastic! I keep hearing that some believe that Georgia is not worth fighting for Obama, but I am here to tell you that we are still fighting to turn Georgia Blue!

***UPDATE X1***My first diary and first time on the rec list! You made my day! Now, go out there and make Barack Obama our next President!
****UPDATE X2****I have had a lot of comments from people who felt my emotions as I voted today. I am glad that my story moved you. I hope it moves mountains of people to take advantage of the early/absentee voting period in their state. I also hope it moves everyone to do everything they can to get others out to vote as well!
*****UPDATE X3*****h/t to erick770: Here is a story regarding the happy voters in Georgia.
*****UPDATE X4*****Added celebration picture!
The polls opened at 8 AM EDT. I arrived about 8:15 AM and the parking lot was almost full. Driving in, there was a man with an Obama and Jim Martin (D) sign. Martin is running for Senate to replace Saxby Chambliss – (R). I waved to him in support.
The office was staffed sufficiently. I was greeted by a worker who directed me to the forms to fill out for Absentee Ballot - no reason necessary. Afterwards, I went to another location where my ID was taken and my electronic voting card was given to me.
Talk about being nervous! Of course, the first choice was for President of the United States. I can't describe my feelings of seeing Barack Obama and Joe Biden's name as a choice. I wanted to laugh, cry and sing at the same time! I stayed focused, making sure I chose the correct box on the touch screen. I continued voting the ballot, selecting Democrats all the way. At the end, you get a last chance to verify your selection before casting your ballot. I lingered over Barack Obama's name for a few moments. Again, I can't describe the feeling. I then touched the "Cast Ballot" button.
We have done it! For myself, and the dozens and dozens that were there with me, we share the joy of knowing that we FINALLY got to vote for our man! I know that many more voters will come to vote early in the days to come. CNN was also there, interviewing ecstatic voters. I can't say scientifically, but I believe the majority of us voting were for Obama.
Outside, it was like a social scene. I ran into fellow Obama volunteers, and made new friends. We are now empowered to make sure everyone takes advantage of the Absentee Ballot - no reason period.

So, you go out there and early/absentee vote, donate, volunteer, GOTV or what ever you can do to make sure your state elects Barack Obama to the Presidency of the United States. For my part, from now until election day, I will be making sure others can vote for themselves.
P.S. If you can come to Georgia to volunteer to GOTV, this is a wonderful time. You can register to vote and vote on the same day between September 22 - October 6. So, if you have the time, and your state can spare you, get your butts down here! Fifteen EV's can go for Obama if we get as many early voters to the polls!
