Reuters reports that the Democrats have reached an agreement (among themselves) about the bailout bill.
"Democratic Rep. Barney Frank said on Wednesday Democrats had reached an agreement on a financial bailout plan, and there would be enough votes to pass it and send it to President George W. Bush to sign into law" (Reuters)
Sen Frank says they will be meeting with the Republicans tomorrow morning at 10 am
they don't have the details out yet, but apparently this makes the whole McCain gimmick totally useless. I wish they came out with this before the Bush address - that would have taken the wind out of his sails.
Sen. Frank's statement seemd very calm and composed. But he did go rather sarcastic on McCain:
"All of sudden, now that we are on the verge of making a deal, John McCain here drops himself in to help us make a deal, Frank said. "I really worry about the politicalization."
