Many people on this site and elsewhere are repulsed by the idea of any bailout agreement. However, the consequences for average Americans of doing nothing could be extreme. The political games being played by Sen. McCain are putting the well-being of the nation at risk.
I wanted to get this clip up for everyone. This has been a scary time for some people. Sen. McCain is making a time of uncertainty even more stressful.
By contrast, I find that every time Sen. Obama addresses the economic meltdown issue, I feel better. This clip is no exception. I find myself remembering my mother describing the effect of listening to FDR on the radio in her grandparent's living room as a child.
Obama is all the things we always praise him for. He is strong, intelligent, politically savvy, well-educated, and honest. We don't often think of another quality that is crucial in a leader during uncertain times: reassuring. A big part of things being OK is feeling and believing that they will be OK. A great leader can project a sense that, even if things are really rough, we will get through it. That's Sen. Obama.
