For real, not a robocall. The candidate for congressman in Arizona O3 called, in person, based off an orange-to-blue contribution. He thanked me for the previous contribution, told me about his efforts, and said he was calling those who had contributed to see if they wanted to do more. I promised I would, and told him to give those who had messed up our country hell. He said he would, and we both said goodbye and hung up.
It was amazingly effective, in that I felt I had to contribute to someone who called me personally. I went over to ActBlue, and immediately made another contribution.
And of course my rational side wondered - how could he have the time? How effective are such calls? I know a staffer call wouldn't have been anywhere near as effective for me. It may not make sense, but that's the way it works.
But my emotional, get-out-there-and-fight side was amazingly pleased. Although I have absolutely no other connection with the campaign than what I've written above, and don't live in Arizona, I'll add my own appeal. If you're pleased as well by the idea of a personal call, go contribute to Bob Lord at Orange to Blue.
