My english is very poor, but i hope that someone will translate my diary, because i want to talk about the idea of senator Obama to bomb Pakistan...
I have to say that I share many points of view with Senator Obama on the manner of conceiving not only the power of the United States, but also of conceiving the relations between the US and the rest of the world... Last night (it's 3 AM in Italy) I followed the debate between McCain and Obama and I would like to interject on a point that was taken up (abordé) by Obama and McCain... whether or not to bomb Pakistan...
Since Obama announced that if he is elected president of the United States, that if in the course of tracking the Taliban he would be ready to bomb their rear bases in Pakistan, I read numerous Republican reactions which treated this idea as mad, asking how he could dare to bomb an ally of the United States... I would like to remind these Republicans that the US, under George Bush, bombed Pakistan... Already in January 2006 American planes had bombed Pakistan... at this web address you can find the news in English

01/13/06 "ICH" -- -- Aircraft from Afghanistan have once more attacked Pakistan killing 18 Pakistanis in remote villages. Even non-US sources, such as Al-Jazeera has adopted the tone of embedded journalists, telling the world that the US attack on Pakistan killed 18 people in "a village stronghold of pro-Taliban Islamists."
The incident in Bajaur tribal region on December 13 came days after Pakistan lodged a useless protest with US-led forces in Afghanistan, saying cross-border firing in the nearby Waziristan area last weekend killed eight people.
A Pakistani intelligence official said two aircraft had come in from Afghanistan and fired two or three missiles. Where is the US military spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Jerry O'Hara, followed the foot-steps of his liar commander-in-chief and said there were no reports of US forces operating in the Damadola area.
Not much later that week the Pakistani authorities announced that they had killed 1000 Al-Qaida militants in 1 month of combat between the armed forces of Pakistan and the extremist militants.(merci a turthlover pour la traduction)
ISLAMABAD: Pakistani forces have killed up to 1,000 Islamist militants in an offensive for control over the strategically key northwestern region of Bajaur this month, an army commander said yesterday.Government forces launched an offensive in Bajaur last month and have been involved in heavy fighting since then.

This is the last paragraph traslated by geodemographics
What does that mean? It means that bombing the hidden bases of Al Qaida in Pakistan does not mean going against the Pakistani government, it means helping the Pakistani government, which itself has an interest in seeing the disappearance of these militants who have created a veritable "no man's land" in the interior of Pakistan. These tribal zones are almost off limits to the Pakistani authorities. Barack Obama, by declaring that he would attack these hidden bases, would help the Pakistani government, and the fact that this same government is fighting the extremists of Al Qaida on its own territory is proof that Barack Obama is right when he says that in order to win the war in Afghanistan it will be necessary to fight Al Qaida in Pakistan.
